ALLAN STERNFIELD,piano
Allan Sternfield was born in the United States and studied at the Peabody Conservatory of Music with Walter Hautzig, and later coached with Leon Fleisher and Wilhelm Kempff.
He has concertized in the United States, Europe, Israel, South America, and the Far East. Critics have praised his "artistic maturity, interpretive powers and skill " (The Japan Times), his "impeccable technical resources and musical approach" (The Jerusalem Post), and his "complete mastery" (The Daily Telegraph, London).
He moved to Israel in 1976 and has been very active as a soloist and chamber musician. He has participated in the Israel Festival and in the Voice of Israel Upper Galilee Chamber Music Days.
He was awarded the Ministry of Education and Culture Prize for Outstanding Performance of Israeli Music in 1989 for his interpretation of Josef Tal's Essay I, and again in 1995 for his performance of Aharon Harlap's Echoes of Childhood .
Allan Sternfield has been on the faculty of the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance since 1976.
