Singers: Yeela Avital, Tamar Kleinberger, Ofer Shelley. Childhood Scenes Is an Israeli anthology of childrens’ songs - old and new - arranged for piano trio and soprano. This album completes six months of work on a musical project devoted to the subject of childhood. It is not a children's CD in the usual sense,
although most of it will be enjoyed by them. It contains a collection of songs on which two generations of adults grew up in Israel since the 1950s, together with contemporary songs we recently
commissioned from young Israeli composers. The adult audience will find a multifaceted commentary on the subject of childhood, ranging from the naïve to the sophisticated, and from the simple to the complex. Arrangements of well-known classics always present a special challenge.
Israeli classics, Hebrew songs. The Atar Trio with singer Yeela Avital. This is a moving voyage of words and sounds, combining well-known popular Hebrew songs in an artistic and original rendering with contemporary Israeli chamber music based on the same materials. This special chamber music includes
songs by Naomi Shemer, Sasha Argov, Mordechai Zeira, Yoni Rechter, and many others.
The Atar Piano Trio with Eran Zur. This piece is based on the story by S.Y. Agnon, and is an original musical theater performance for chamber ensemble and actor. The story, a Hebrew classic, combines a live music, storytelling and theater. The performance offers a creative and surprising encounter among
these different performing arts and gives the audience a unique experience. The music serves at times as background and at other times as part of the story. The selection includes chamber classic repertory, contemporary Jewish and Israeli music and improvised segments for the actor and musicians,
with selections by Schubert, Dvorak, Shostakovich, Jan Freidlin and others.
