The Ox on the Roof (Le Boeuf sur le Toit)

Atar Trio and Oren Fried

New! a world-music concert for piano trio and percussion.

Le Boeuf sur le Toit - Original play

"Le Boeuf sur le Toit" is an acoustic world-music concert, created and performed by the Atar Trio and percussionist Oren Fried and based on Ofer Shelley's arrangements for music drawn from a different cultures and places..

Le Boeuf sur le Toit, Darius Milhaud’s lively piece, most likely named for a Brazilian folk dance, inspired this program. He mixed folk and concert music, crossing musical boundaries with an optimistic approach. Just so, the Atar Trio enthusiastically combine folk and concert music elements, convinced that this musical program creates an authentically new experience, just as the timbres the of piano trio and percussion offer new musical soundscapes. It has become part of the Atar Trio’s tradition to weave distinct musical threads into kaleidoscopic tapestries.

In addition, program includes arrangements and adaptations of Irish and Scottish folk music, gems from Astor Piazzolla. 1492, by the American composer Judith Shatin, Leo Brouwer’s searching La Vida Misma and middle eastern music by noted Israeli composers as, Itzhak Yedid and Tsippi Fleischer.
